Broken Gargoyles - Diamanda Galás (2022)

Lo so, ho usato lo stesso argomento per Lingua Ignota, che, ad essere onesti, deve moltissimo a Diamanda: la musica, spesso, è arte, oltre che intrattenimento. E' sempre stato il caso della, riprendo le definizioni dalla sua scheda Wikipedia, cantante, compositrice, artista visuale e soprano, americana di origini greche ed egiziane. Questo suo nuovo album ha bisogno di una introduzione: nel luglio 2020, Galás ha presentato tramite lo spazio online della Fridman Gallery un'opera ispirata alla poesia e alle immagini relative alle cicatrici fisiche e mentali dei soldati feriti durante la prima guerra mondiale. Con collaboratori come l'artista e ingegnere del suono Daniel Neumann, l'artista video Carlton Bright e l'artista Robert Knocke in un'apparizione come ospite, Galás ha prodotto "Broken Gargoyles", un'installazione basata sulle parole del poeta tedesco Georg Heym e sulle fotografie di Ernst Friedrich. L'album è la trasposizione di quella performance, e, se accettate che la musica possa essere arte, sfida, visione, storia, racconto, emozione, dolore, espiazione, sofferenza, Broken Gargoyles è il disco dell'anno del 2022. I know, I used the same argument for Lingua Ignota, which, to be honest, owes a lot to Diamanda: music is often art, as well as entertainment. It has always been the case of her, I take the definitions of her from her Wikipedia, singer, composer, visual artist and soprano, American of Greek and Egyptian origins. This new album needs an introduction: in July 2020, Galás presented through the online space of the Fridman Gallery a work inspired by poetry and images relating to the physical and mental scars of soldiers wounded during the First World War. With collaborators such as artist and sound engineer Daniel Neumann, video artist Carlton Bright and artist Robert Knocke in a guest appearance, Galás produced "Broken Gargoyles", an installation based on the words of the German poet Georg Heym and on the photographs of Ernst Friedrich. The album is the transposition of that performance, and, if you accept that music can be art, challenge, vision, history, storytelling, emotion, pain, atonement, suffering, Broken Gargoyles is the record of the year 2022.
