Terrasite - Cattle Decapitation (2023)

L'ottavo album della band di San Diego, California, segna un altro passo verso se non la perfezione, un livello altissimo del technical death metal, la categoria entro la quale possiamo annoverarli. Un altro monolite di grande fattura, con sorprendenti (ma non per chi conosce anche solo un poco la band) aperture melodiche che spiazzano sempre un po', data la violenza estrema delle parti death. Capisco che alcuni dei loro fan della prima ora siano decisamente scontenti della pulizia dei suoni e probabilmente anche degli intermezzi melodici, ma ovviamente, ci saranno sempre quelli che soffrono della vecchia sindrome del metallaro. Filosoficamente la band continua con tematiche che criticano lo sfruttamento del pianeta, tanto è vero che il titolo dell'album è un neologismo portmanteau tra Terra e Parasite. 

The eighth album of the band from San Diego, California, marks another step towards if not perfection, a very high level of technical death metal, the category within which we can include them. Another monolith of great workmanship, with surprising (but not for those who know the band even a little) melodic openings that always displace a little, given the extreme violence of the death parts. I understand that some of their early fans are decidedly unhappy with the cleanliness of the sounds and probably also with the melodic interludes, but of course, there will always be those who suffer from the old metalhead syndrome. Philosophically the band continues with themes that criticize the exploitation of the planet, so much so that the album title is a portmanteau neologism between Terra (Earth) and Parasite.
