Nature Morte - Big|Brave (2023)

Curiosamente (ma fino ad un certo punto), vi parlo del sesto album del trio (come documentato, dal vivo sono a volte quattro) canadese dopo avervi raccontato di uno dei loro concerti italiani di poco più di un mese fa, concerto la cui scaletta è stata esattamente quella di questo Nature Morte. Un disco dove, finalmente (se ricordate, in occasione del precedente Vital non ero riuscito a notare l'accostamento fatto notare da altri) sono riuscito a "sentire" la vicinanza del loro potentissimo suono a quello dei Sunn O))), quando, spessissimo, si lasciano andare a droni incontrollati di chitarre. Quando poi, si riavvicinano alla forma-canzone, ricordano l'impatto dei Melvins (si, perdonatemi, ho già usato questa similitudine per parlarvi del live), e la voce acuta di Robin rende il tutto ancor più dissonante. Uno sperimentalismo di grande impatto sonoro, che viene man mano raffinato, ancor di più con questo loro ultimo lavoro.

Curiously (but up to a certain point), I'm telling you about the sixth album of the Canadian trio (as documented, live they are sometimes four) after having told you about one of their Italian concerts a little over a month ago, a concert whose lineup was exactly that of this Nature Morte. An album where, finally (if you remember, on the occasion of the previous Vital I hadn't been able to notice the juxtaposition pointed out by others) I was able to "hear" the closeness of their very powerful sound to that of Sunn O))), when, very often, they indulge in uncontrolled drones of guitars. Then, when they get back to the song form, they recall the impact of the Melvins (yes, forgive me, I've already used this similarity to tell you about the live show), and Robin's high voice makes everything even more dissonant. An experimentalism of great sound impact, which is gradually refined, even more with their latest work.
