For All Kings - Anthrax (2016)

Mi fa piacere sentirli in salute. Long live.

Today, doing the last listening to the new album (the eleventh) of Anthrax, almost original lineup (Ian, Belladonna, Benante, Bello) with the new guitarist Jon Donais from Shadows Fall, who has taken the place of Rob Caggiano (as you know, now in Volbeat), I reflected on why both the New York band, albeit Slayer, have continued to churn out decent albums, as opposed to Metallica, which although, at those times, have completely obscured the fame of these other bands, then considered "minors". In the end, the conclusion is simplistic: not overdoing it and without major metamorphosis, have, in fact, preserved the dignity.
About the album, which runs the network for months, but only comes out on February 26: it's good, is pretty good. Of course, it takes us back in time to the good old days of thrash metal hard and pure, although Anthrax, of which we have spoken several times in the past few years, have always flirted with both the hip hop, with both the classic hard rock. It will be a wrong impression, but even the recent guest to Iron Maiden tour has left some trail of inspiration to the band: you can hear, here and there, of maidenesque cues (the intro of "For All Kings", for example) .
The album is very pleasant, for metalheads or former metalheads who still rejoice when electric guitars sound happy and hard: "Monster at the End", "For All Kings", "Breathing Lightning", "Suzerain", "Blood Eagle Wings", "This Battle Chose Us" (my favorite), are all great pieces, and even others not mentioned are not too bad.
I'm glad to hear them healthy. Long live.
