Julia Holter: quando esce un disco nuovo, ogni volta mi spavento un poco. Perché è estremamente difficile anche solo descrivere la sua musica. Ve ne ho parlato spesso, negli ultimi anni, quasi ogni volta per le sue nuove uscite. Sono di nuovo qui per dirvi due parole su questo nuovo disco, con un titolo che ricorda vagamente l'altro del 2017 (In the Same Room), e che ha una splendida copertina, oltre ad essere ispirato parzialmente dalla nascita di sua figlia. Un disco al quale ancora una volta, l'etichetta art pop si addice perfettamente, tenendo conto che il "pop" c'è, molto sotto, in alcuni brani, ma certamente non è possibile definirlo semplice. E', come sempre, stratificato, complesso, etereo, quasi jazz, quasi ambient, fatto di sensazioni soffuse, dilatate. Solo per chi ama la sfida.
Julia Holter: when a new album comes out, I get a little scared every time. Because it's extremely difficult to even describe her music. I've talked to you about her often in recent years, almost every time for her new releases. I'm here again to tell you a few words about this new album, with a title that vaguely recalls the other from 2017 (In the Same Room), and which has a splendid cover, as well as being partially inspired by the birth of her daughter. A record to which, once again, the art pop label is perfectly suited, taking into account that the "pop" is there, very underneath, in some songs, but it certainly cannot be defined as simple. It is, as always, layered, complex, ethereal, almost jazz, almost ambient, made of suffused, dilated sensations. Only for those who love the challenge.
