La montagna cadrà

The Mountain Will Fall - DJ Shadow (2016)

Joshua Paul Davis, Josh for friends, known as DJ Shadow, here is at the fifth album (not considering "Preemptive Strike", as it was a collection of singles), and even though I had never listened to his previous works, I have to say let's take off our hats, in front of a structured musical research, which kicks off the so-called instrumental hip hop, a genre that he helped to found, and extends toward more experimental electronics. Not losing sight of a semblance of song format, he put together completely instrumental tracks, with other "sung" ("Nobody Speak" with Run the Jewels, "The Sideshow" with Ernie Fresh, "Pitter Patter" with G Jones and Bleep Bloop), managing to capture the listener's attention, dreamlike, sinuous rhythmic, melodic research valuable, combined with a brave and bold use of electronics, samples and effects.
