Al quarto album, la band di Denver, Colorado, dimostra di essere una delle grandi realtà del metal estremo attuale. Absolute Elsewhere, così chiamato in onore dell'omonima band attiva brevemente negli anni '70, è una specie di miscela dei loro due album precedenti. Se non ve li ricordate, Hidden History of the Human Race era un grande disco di death metal super tecnico con un forte retrogusto psichedelico, mentre Timewave Zero era un disco ambient di pregevole fattura. Qua siamo di fronte ad un raffinatissimo death metal tecnico progressivo; due suite di oltre venti minuti composte da tre movimenti ciascuna, dove addirittura, un uno dei movimenti troviamo come ospite Thorsten Quaeschning dei tedeschi Tangerine Dream. Uno dei dischi più interessanti che vi capiterà di ascoltare quest'anno.
With their fourth album, the band from Denver, Colorado, proves to be one of the greats of extreme metal today. Absolute Elsewhere, named after the band of the same name that was briefly active in the 70s, is a sort of mix of their two previous albums. If you don't remember them, Hidden History of the Human Race was a great album of super technical death metal with a strong psychedelic aftertaste, while Timewave Zero was an ambient album of fine workmanship. Here we are faced with a very refined technical progressive death metal; two suites of over twenty minutes each composed of three movements, where in one of the movements we even find a guest Thorsten Quaeschning of the German Tangerine Dream. One of the most interesting albums you will listen to this year.
