Átta - Sigur Rós (2023)

Come dice il titolo (otto in islandese), questo è l'ottavo disco per la band islandese, nella quale rientra il tastierista Kjartan Sveinsson ed era uscito (già da qualche anno) il batterista Orri Páll Dýrason. Forse ispirati da questa "mancanza", forse no, l'album è orchestrale (su nove delle dieci tracce c'è la London Contemporary Orchestra) e totalmente senza batteria o percussioni. Come nota Pitchfork, è un bel disco dove, nonostante la varietà di strumenti (essendoci, appunto, una intera orchestra), quello che risalta è la voce di ‎Jónsi, una voce alla quale, se uno fosse al primo ascolto in assoluto degli islandesi, ci si deve abituare, ma che è innegabilmente un qualcosa di etereo. Per il resto, grandi sinfonie ariose, ma francamente, mi pare di poter dire che globalmente hanno fatto di meglio.

As the title says (eight in Icelandic), this is the eighth album for the Icelandic band, in which come back keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson and from which drummer Orri Páll Dýrason left (already a few years ago). Perhaps inspired by this "lack", perhaps not, the album is orchestral (on nine of the ten tracks there is the London Contemporary Orchestra) and totally without drums or percussion. As Pitchfork notes, it is a beautiful record where, despite the variety of instruments (there being, in fact, a whole orchestra), what stands out is the voice of ‎Jónsi, a voice to which, if one were at the very first listening of the Icelanders, it takes some getting used to, but which is undeniably something ethereal. For the rest, great airy symphonies, but frankly, I think I can say that globally they have done better.
