Mono + Gggolddd, 16 maggio, Cinema Perla, Bologna

Nel giorno che precede il disastro in Romagna, eccomi nuovamente a Bologna, stavolta al Cinema Perla, per un concerto che fino a poco prima dell'inizio stava per essere rimandato, proprio per il maltempo. Sarà anche per quello che il pubblico non è così numeroso. Sono qui per gli olandesi Gggolddd, che aprono per un set di circa tre quarti d'ora, basato ovviamente soprattutto sul loro ultimo This Shame Should Not Be Mine, con qualche brano riarrangiato (notevole la conclusiva On You, introdotta da Milena Eva, la cantante e leader, spiegando che, come gran parte della sua produzione lirica, si basa sullo stupro da lei subito alcuni anni addietro), penalizzati dalla poca dinamicità sul palco, bilanciati dalla grande voce della cantante e dal suo magnetismo. Il piatto principale sono i giapponesi Mono, esperienza pluri-ventennale e suono massiccio, flemmatici sul palco quanto devastanti quando aprono il gas. Otto brani, che spaziano lungo tutto il loro vasto repertorio, e un approccio che mi ricorda moltissimo quello dei Mogwai per come alternano "bastone e carota" musicalmente, passando da momenti prettamente shoegaze di grandissima classe ad altri aggressivi e noise.

I'm here for the Dutch Gggolddd, who open for a set of about three quarters of an hour, obviously based above all on their latest This Shame Should Not Be Mine, with some rearranged songs (remarkable the final On You, introduced by Milena Eva, the singer and leader, explaining that, like a large part of her opera production, it is based on the rape she suffered a few years ago), penalized by the lack of dynamism on stage, balanced by the great voice of the singer and her magnetism. The main dish is the Japanese Mono, over twenty years of experience and massive sound, as phlegmatic on stage as devastating when they open the gas. Eight songs, ranging throughout their vast repertoire, and an approach that reminds me very much that of Mogwai for how they alternate "carrot and stick" musically, passing from purely shoegaze moments of great class to other aggressive and noisy ones.
