Sky Void of Stars - Katatonia (2023)
Dal punto di vista strettamente biografico, non c'è molto da aggiungere rispetto a quanto vi dissi parlando del precedente City Burials, se non che, non potendo andare in tour a causa della pandemia, la band si è concentrata da una parte a pubblicare materiale già edito, un nuovo album dal vivo, Dead Air (2020), una compilation, Mnemosynea (2021) e un cofanetto del primo materiale della band, Melancholium (2022), e a registrarne di nuovo. Il risultato è questo Sky Void of Stars, dove il metal pian piano scompare, rimane l'eleganza, e qua e là, si apprezzano episodi interessanti, come l'avvolgente e ritmata Birds. Il resto non esalta più di tanto.
From a strictly biographical point of view, there isn't much to add compared to what I told you while I was talking about the previous album City Burials, except that, not being able to go on tour due to the pandemic, the band concentrated on the one hand on releasing material already known, a new live album, Dead Air (2020), a compilation, Mnemosynea (2021) and a box set of the band's first material, Melancholium (2022), and to record new material. The result is this Sky Void of Stars, where the metal slowly disappears, elegance remains, and here and there, interesting episodes are appreciated, such as the enveloping and rhythmic Birds. The rest doesn't exalt that much.
