Kick II / Kick III / Kick IIII / Kick IIIII - Arca (2021)

Inarrestabile, Arca (Alejandra Ghersi), ha dato ben quattro seguiti al precedente Kick i, e chissà se questo "ciclo" è davvero terminato. Dance visionaria, per lunghi tratti si conserva la malinconia di fondo di alcuni dei suoi lavori precedenti. Kick ii è più influenzato dal reggaeton e dalla cumbia, Kick iii è più orientato verso la dance club, Kick iiii è una cavalcata ambient, Kick iiiii parte dall'ambient e si addentra in territori inesplorati ed estremamente rarefatti. I temi lirici sono (mi verrebbe da dire ovviamente) queer, trans e pansessuali, in linea con il percorso dell'artista, come già detto in passato. Le splendide ed inquietanti copertine sono del fotografo Frederik Heyman, e il tutto consacra Arca come una degli artisti più avanguardisti dei nostri tempi, senza compromessi.

Unstoppable, Arca (Alejandra Ghersi), has given four sequels to the previous Kick i, and who knows if that's it. Visionary dance, for long stretches the underlying melancholy of some of her previous works is preserved. Kick ii is more reggaeton and cumbia influenced, Kick iii is more dance club oriented, Kick iiii is an ambient ride, Kick iiiii starts from ambient and goes into unexplored and extremely rarefied territories. The lyrical themes are (I would say "obviously") queer, trans and pansexual, in line with the artist's path, as already mentioned in the past. The splendid and disturbing covers are by photographer Frederik Heyman, and the whole consecrates Arca as one of the most avant-garde musical artists of our times, without compromise.
