Crystalline Exhaustion - Krallice (2002)

E con questo Crystalline Exhaustion, la band di Colin Marston arriva all'undicesimo album in 14 anni, non contando un live e tre EP. Il suono si sta, come notavamo nelle recensioni dei dischi precedenti, lentamente modificando, adesso è molto più definito, addirittura leggo che alcuni fan ne sarebbero scontenti proprio per questo. Siamo ancora dalle parti del black metal, ma si sperimenta, e c'è moltissima tecnica, non siamo al parossismo dei concittadini Imperial Triumphant, ma qualche accostamento possiamo farlo. Nei Krallice c'è una attitudine che oserei definire più "horror", nel senso che le sensazioni che si ricavano ascoltando la loro musica, e nello specifico questo disco, spesso è quella. Claustrofobia, ossessione, cose del genere. Meno velocità (ovviamente, rimane in molti passaggi), più atmosfera.

And with this Crystalline Exhaustion, Colin Marston's band reaches their 11th album in 14 years, not counting one live and three EPs. The sound is slowly changing, as we noted in the reviews of the previous albums, now it is much more defined, and I read that some fans would be unhappy for this. We are still in the black metal parts, but they keep on experiment, and there is a lot of technique, we are not at the paroxysm of fellow citizens Imperial Triumphant, but we can do some juxtaposition. In Krallice there is an attitude that I would dare to call more "horror", in the sense that the feeling you get from listening to their music, and specifically this record, is often that. Claustrophobia, obsession, things like that. Less speed (of course, it is still there in many passages), more atmosphere.
