False Light - White Ward (2022)

Oggi parliamo del terzo album di questa band proveniente dall'oblast (termine che ormai un po' tutti abbiamo imparato a conoscere, che significa divisione amministrativa) di Odessa, al momento in Ucraina. Una band che ha, nella formazione, un sassofonista (Dima Dudko), il che ormai come sapete non è più una novità (Rivers of Nihil), ma che vi fa intuire che il genere è si un black metal, ma molto sperimentale. Così, in effetti è, e c'è da dire che False Light risulta essere un disco molto suggestivo, fatto di galoppate black in stile nord europeo, maestosi rallentamenti resi affascinanti dal suono del sax, strutture ricercate e dilatate in stile progressive, cosa messa subito in chiaro dalla monumentale apertura con Leviathan. Ottimo.

Today we talk about the third album of this band coming from the oblast (a term that we have all come to know by now, which means administrative division) of Odessa, currently in Ukraine. A band that has, in the line up, a saxophonist (Dima Dudko), which by now as you know is no longer a novelty (Rivers of Nihil), but which makes you understand that the genre is a black metal, but very experimental. So, in fact it is, and it must be said that False Light turns out to be a very suggestive record, made of black gallops in northern European style, majestic slowdowns made fascinating by the sound of the sax, refined and dilated structures in a progressive style, what put immediately clear from the monumental opening with Leviathan. Very good.
