Vaxis – Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind - Coheed and Cambria (2022)
A quasi quattro anni di distanza, ecco la seconda parte di Vaxis, il tutto tratto dalla saga a fumetti The Amory Wars. Confermo che, superata la diffidenza che avevo nei confronti nella band di Claudio Sanchez, il loro ascolto è molto piacevole. Ho avuto però l'impressione che questo disco sia leggermente inferiore al precedente atto, a mio parere ci sono alcuni episodi esageratamente pop che stonano molto con il resto (A Disappearing Act, Love Murder One), anche se comprendo la voglia e l'interesse di innestare influenze diverse su una struttura progressive metal. Molto meglio quando rimangono nel campo a loro più consono, quel piacevole mix, come ebbi a dire già, di Rush + Journey rivisitati, modernizzati e potenziati, con quella voce (quella di Sanchez) alla quale devi fare un po' l'abitudine, ma che alla fine conferisce un tocco in più.
Almost four years later, here is the second part of Vaxis, all taken from the comic saga The Amory Wars. I confirm that, having overcome the distrust I had towards Claudio Sanchez's band, listening to them is very pleasant. However, I had the impression that this record is slightly inferior to the previous act, in my opinion there are some exaggeratedly pop episodes that clash a lot with the rest (A Disappearing Act, Love Murder One), even if I understand the desire and interest to graft different influences on a progressive metal structure. Much better when they stay in the field more suited to them, that pleasant mix, as I already said, of Rush + Journey revisited, modernized and enhanced, with that voice (that of Sanchez) to which you have to get used to, but that ultimately gives it an extra touch.
