Im Wald - Paysage d'Hiver (2020)

Paysage d'Hiver è un progetto del solo Tobias Mockl, svizzero del cantone di Berna, proveniente da una cittadina che potremo definire di campagna; dopo dieci demo, che rappresentano dieci capitoli dove lo stesso definisce il "regno" dove si ambientano le storie che narra, arriva il primo album, del quale parliamo oggi. La distribuzione ed il formato danno già un'idea del personaggio con il quale abbiamo a che fare: 13 tracce per 2 ore di musica, in gennaio viene presentato e distribuito in 50 copie su una chiavetta usb in legno intagliato, per poi uscire in giugno su doppio CD o quadruplo vinile. Siamo di fronte ad un metal molto estremo, che più che esoterico si avvicina concettualmente al culto della terra, e che musicalmente flirta con noise, grida, tappeti di synth e soprattutto, droni di chitarre taglienti che dipingono un'atmosfera cupa e fredda, un po' come il titolo, dentro una foresta, ma con un tempo di merda. Tutti i pregi, ma anche tutti i limiti, di musica come questa, li conoscete già.

The distribution and the format already give an idea of ​​the character we are dealing with: 13 tracks for 2 hours of music, in January it is presented and distributed in 50 copies on a carved wooden USB stick, and then released in June on double CD or quadruple vinyl. We are facing a very extreme metal, which more than esoteric conceptually approaches the cult of the earth, and which musically flirts with noise, screams, synth carpets and above all, sharp guitar drones that paint a dark and cold atmosphere, a bit like the title, inside a forest, but with a shitty time. You already know all the merits, but also all the limitations, of music like this.
