The Origin of My Depression - Uboa (2019)
Sono "arrivato" a Uboa, progetto solista di Xandra Metcalfe, australiana di Melbourne, leggendo la biografia dei Bolt Gun. Incuriosito, mi sono concentrato sul suo ultimo lavoro, risalente al 2019, The Origin of My Depression, titolo e copertina piuttosto esplicativi, disco senza dubbio estremo. Xandra riflette in musica la sua lotta interiore con la sua identità transgender, e descrive le origini del suo dolore, soprattutto mentale, con "identità errata, relazioni fallite e incapacità di amare, mancanza di lavoro, noia, mancanza di supporto, psicosi e ansia". Intrigued, I focused on her latest work, dating back to 2019, The Origin of My Depression, a rather explanatory title and cover, undoubtedly extreme album. Xandra reflects in music her inner struggle with her transgender identity, and describes the origins of her pain, especially mental, with "wrong identity, failed relationships and inability to love, lack of work, boredom, structurelessness, psychosis and anxiety". In this record there is noise, metal, ambient, drone, and if you allow me a couple of musical references, we are between Pharmakon and Lingua Ignota. As you will certainly understand, another proposal on the edge of the musical universe, suitable for the most daring.
