No One Sings Like You Anymore, Vol. 1 - Chris Cornell (2020)
Probabilmente sapete già come la penso su operazioni postume come questa, e sapete anche che sono disposto ad accettarle se veramente il materiale è valido; probabilmente sapete anche che Chris Cornell è stata la voce di un periodo della mia vita musicalmente molto bello. Ecco, dopo aver ascoltato diverse volte questo disco, le parole della vedova Vicky "Questo album è così speciale perché è un'opera d'arte completa che Chris ha creato dall'inizio alla fine. Non vedeva l'ora di farlo uscire" mi lasciano quantomeno dubbioso.
Disco di cover, alcune molto conosciute altre meno, il disco non è tutto questo granché. La voce di Chris è sempre qualcosa di unico e bellissimo da ascoltare, ma chi si è emozionato spesso con le sue canzoni (e con quelle delle band nelle quali ha militato), dovrà ammettere che forse, era il caso di lasciar perdere, e farlo riposare in pace.
You probably already know how I feel about posthumous operations like this, and you also know that I am willing to accept them if the material is truly valid; you probably also know that Chris Cornell was the voice of a musically beautiful period of my life. Here, after listening to this record several times, the words of widow Vicky "This album is so special because it is a complete work of art that Chris created from start to finish. [...] He couldn't wait to release it" leave myself at least doubtful.
Cover album, some well known others less so, the album is not all that great. Chris's voice is always something unique and beautiful to listen to, but those who are often excited with his songs (and with those of the bands in which he played), will have to admit that perhaps, it was appropriate to give up, and let him rest in peace.
