Big Red Machine - Big Red Machine (2018)

Nel frattempo è arrivato anche il secondo album (ne abbiamo parlato), segno che il progetto è un qualcosa di duraturo. Big Red Machine sono Aaron Dessner dei The National e Justin Vernon dei Bon Iver. Sicuramente qualcuno di voi conoscerà già la storia, ma tutto comincia nel 2008, quando Dessner messaggia Vernon su MySpace, senza averlo mai incontrato prima, con un'idea strumentale per una compilation a beneficio della Red Hot Organization. Voleva una canzone da Vernon, Big Red Machine, e Vernon gliela diede. Dopo la celebrazione dal vivo di quell'album (Dark Was the Night), i due hanno iniziato a collaborare su vari progetti, e finalmente, nel 2018, hanno deciso che era l'ora di dare vita a Big Red Machine con questo album omonimo, che naturalmente mette insieme i due stili, non lontanissimi, e si completa con molte collaborazioni (ne cito alcune, Phoebe Bridgers, Kate Stables, Lisa Hanningan, Bryan Devendorf, Bryce Dessner - fratello di Aaron). Disco dove ovviamente il marchio di fabbrica della voce di Vernon la fa da padrone, ma le atmosfere musicali sono più folk (ma moderno), meno elettroniche, i dieci brani sono ben scritti, e si ascolta con piacere.

After the live celebration of that album (Dark Was the Night), the two began collaborating on various projects, and finally, in 2018, they decided it was time to bring Big Red Machine to life with this self-titled album, which naturally brings together the two styles, not very distant, and is completed with many collaborations (I mention a few, Phoebe Bridgers, Kate Stables, Lisa Hanningan, Bryan Devendorf, Bryce Dessner - Aaron's brother). Album where obviously the trademark of Vernon's voice is the master, but the musical atmospheres are more folk (but modern), less electronic, the ten songs are well written, and you can listen with pleasure.
