As the Love Continues - Mogwai (2021)
Al decimo disco in studio, i Mogwai smentiscono (ma secondo me lo avevano già fatto ampiamente con quelli precedenti) i pregiudizi sulle band che invecchiano diventando la cover band di se stessi; quello che ne fa una grande eccezione, è il fatto che ci riescono pur non snaturandosi. Attraversano più generi, rimanendo se stessi, evolvendosi, risultando sempre credibili, validi, piacevoli, intraprendenti. Con Ritchie Sacramento, stavolta, potrebbero pure sbancare le classifiche, ma ovviamente a loro non interessa. Ogni disco è un viaggio, ed ogni volta capisci che possono piacere in maniera molto trasversale, se solo molti ascoltatori medi si sforzassero di uscire dalla loro comfort zone.
At their tenth studio album, Mogwai denies (but I think they have already done so extensively with the previous ones) the prejudices about aging bands becoming their own cover band; what makes them a great exception is the fact that they succeed while not distorting themselves. They cross multiple genres, remaining themselves, evolving, always being credible, valid, pleasant, enterprising. With Ritchie Sacramento, this time, they may well break the charts, but obviously they don't care. Each record is a journey, and each time you understand that they can be enjoyed in a very transversal way, if only many average listeners tried to get out of their comfort zone. Right on, fellas!
