Little Oblivions - Julien Baker (2021)
Il terzo disco di Julien Rose Baker, cantautrice della quale abbiamo già parlato in occasione del suo secondo disco e di quello delle Boygenius, come pure in occasione della sua partecipazione a Punisher dell'amica Phoebe Bridgers, segna musicalmente una maggiore densità strumentale, per espressa volontà dell'artista, che voleva passare da una dimensione acustica e molto intima, ad una "full band". Detto questo, non vi dovete aspettare uno sconvolgimento epocale, perché la musica di Baker continua a riflettere il personaggio, a detta di vari intervistatori molto sobrio ed educato, seppure pieno di riflessioni e di struggimenti. Il disco è davvero molto bello, e lo si capisce già a partire dalla traccia di apertura Hardline, delicatissima, e così continua. Dodici tracce molto belle e intense, una grande voce, piena di pathos, canzoni ben scritte. Insomma, un serio candidato alla top ten.
The third album by Julien Rose Baker, singer-songwriter of which we have already spoken on the occasion of her second album and the one of Boygenius, as well as on the occasion of her participation in Punisher by her friend Phoebe Bridgers, musically marks a greater instrumental density, for express will of the artist, who wanted to pass from an acoustic and very intimate dimension to a "full band" one. That being said, you shouldn't expect an epochal upheaval, because Baker's music continues to reflect the character, according to various interviewers very sober and polite, albeit full of reflections and heartaches. The album is really very beautiful, and you can already understand it starting from the opening Hardline track, very delicate, and so it continues. Twelve very beautiful and intense tracks, a great voice, full of pathos, well written songs. In short, a serious candidate for the 2021 top ten.
