For Those That Wish to Exist - Architects (2021)

Il nono album della band di Brighton UK, che a livello di liriche, dopo aver tentato di elaborare il lutto di Tom Searle nel precedente Holy Hell, si concentra sul riscaldamento globale e una fine imminente del nostro pianeta, non offrendo via di scampo, mi ha solleticato ad "emettere" una di quelle similitudini ad effetto, data la sua estrema orecchiabilità pur nella sua durezza. Eccovela: se i Bring Me the Horizon (band "amica") sono i Kiss del metalcore, gli Architects sono gli Aerosmith dello stesso genere. Naturalmente, le liriche citate poc'anzi non c'entrano, sto parlando a livello musicale e, appunto, considerando le linee melodiche, l'orecchiabilità della musica di entrambe le band. Lo stile degli Architects è ormai riconoscibile immediatamente, la loro direzione è chiara, l'uso dell'elettronica come supporto e punteggiatura (ma qui si osa perfino una sezione d'archi), perfino la struttura della canzoni è prevedibile: a dispetto di questo, la bellezza travolgente delle tracce di questo album, quindici per un totale di un'ora scarsa di musica potente, dura, tagliente ma estremamente bella e coinvolgente, è indiscutibile. Chi lo nega è prevenuto, oppure sordo. Gli Architects sono indubbiamente una grande realtà della musica metal, e penso che questo disco, a differenza di altri che escono, vengono ascoltati e poi dimenticati, rimarrà, almeno nel 2021.

The ninth album by the band from Brighton UK, which at the level of lyrics, after trying to mourn Tom Searle in the previous Holy Hell, focuses on global warming and an imminent end of our planet, offering no way out, it tickled me to "release" one of those effect similes, given its extreme catchiness even in its hardness. Here it is: if Bring Me the Horizon ("friend" band with Architects) are Kiss of metalcore, Architects are Aerosmith of the same genre. Of course, the lyrics mentioned above have nothing to do with it, I'm speaking on a musical level and, in fact, considering the melodic lines, the catchiness of the music of both bands. The style of the Architects is now immediately recognizable, their direction is clear, the use of electronics as support and punctuation (but here even a string section is dared), even the structure of the songs is predictable: in spite of this, the overwhelming beauty of the tracks on this album, fifteen for a total of a scarce hour of powerful, hard, cutting but extremely beautiful and engaging music, is indisputable. Those who deny it are biased or deaf. Architects are undoubtedly a great reality of metal music, and I think that this record, unlike others that come out, are listened to and then forgotten, will remain, at least in 2021.
