Un po' come tutte le cose che escono dalla prolifica e brillante mentre della musicista, cantante e compositrice australiana, il disco in questione nasce come album in studio, e solo dopo è diventato una colonna sonora, da un film da lei co-scritto e diretto. Come praticamente tutte le sue composizioni, anche queste quattordici sono gustose, ballabili, allegre in superficie ma da leggere tra le righe quando si pensa alle liriche, brillanti. Eppure, l'impressione che ne ho ricavato, da amante di altri generi musicali, che però ha sempre riconosciuto la capacità di Sia di scrivere grandi canzoni pop, è stata di una certa flessione nell'ispirazione. Da una parte c'è un marchio di fabbrica indelebile e riconoscibile anche quando "regala" canzoni ad altri artisti, dall'altro c'è forse una certa assuefazione, sia da parte dell'ascoltatore, sia da parte della compositrice stessa, proprio a quel marchio di fabbrica. Non è un caso che Saved My Life, composta, insieme anche a Greg Kurstin, con Dua Lipa, risalti su tutto l'album, pur non essendo tutto questo granché.

A bit like all the things that come out of the prolific and brilliant while of the Australian musician, singer and composer, the album in question was born as a studio album, and only after it became a soundtrack, from a film she co-wrote and direct. Like practically all her compositions, these fourteen are tasty, danceable, cheerful on the surface but to be read between the lines when you think of the lyrics, brilliant. Still, the impression I got of it, as a lover of other musical genres, who has always recognized Sia's ability to write great pop songs, was a certain inflection in her inspiration. On the one hand there is an indelible and recognizable trademark even when she is "giving" songs to other artists, on the other hand there is perhaps a certain addiction, both on the part of the listener and on the part of the composer herself, precisely to that trademark. It is no coincidence that Saved My Life, composed, together with Greg Kurstin, with Dua Lipa, stands out on the whole album, even if the song itself is not all that much.
