La "trasformazione" dei Cynic verso qualcosa di molto diverso dai loro esordi, è ormai conclamata, con questo loro quarto album (la band si formò nel 1987 a Miami, Florida, ma è stata ferma per molti anni, dal 1994 al 2006) dal titolo un po' fantascientifico, un po' biblico. Siamo dalle parti di un progressive metal estremamente tecnico, come si conviene a questo genere musicale, ispirato ai capostipiti dello stesso (primo nome che viene in mente, i Rush), quindi molto sincopato, ben suonato, senza nessun ricordo del technical death metal degli esordi, ma con sempre meno velate influenze jazz. Non brutto, ma un poco anonimo.
The "transformation" of Cynic towards something very different from their beginnings, is now full-blown, with their fourth album (the band was formed in 1987 in Miami, Florida, but was stopped for many years, from 1994 to 2006) from a bit science fiction, a bit biblical title. We are in the zone of an extremely technical progressive metal, as befits this musical genre, inspired by the progenitors of the same (first name that comes to mind, Rush), therefore very syncopated, well played, without any memory of the technical death metal of the beginnings, but with less and less veiled jazz influences. Not bad, but a little anonymous.
