Things Take Time, Take Time - Courtney Barnett (2021)
Terzo album per la cantautrice australiana, stavolta suonato interamente da lei con la sola collaborazione di Stella Mozgawa delle Warpaint (batteria, percussioni, tastiere, synth e co-produzione, ovviamente insieme alla Barnett), scelta, a quanto sembra, forzata dal lockdown. Il che è un limite, che avrebbe potuto diventare un vantaggio, ma solo se avesse deciso di modificare radicalmente il suo stile. Che seppure minimale, non è così scarno; vivendo più della sua chitarra che della sua voce, ha pure bisogno di un certo tipo di arrangiamenti. Le dieci tracce sono ben scritte, le sue liriche sono valide e divertenti, il disco è piacevole ma graffia meno del precedente.
Third album for the Australian singer-songwriter, this time played entirely by her with the sole collaboration of Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint (drums, percussion, keyboards, synths and co-production, obviously together with Barnett), chosen, apparently, forced by the lockdown. Which is a limitation, which could have become an advantage, but only if she had decided to radically change her style. Although minimal, it is not so gaunt; living more on her guitar than on her voice, she also needs some kind of arrangements. The ten tracks are well written, her lyrics are valid and fun, the record is pleasant but scratches less than the previous one.
