Time Flies - Ladyhawke (2021)
Time Flies è il quarto album della incarnazione solista di Phillipa Margaret Brown detta Pip, polistrumentista neozelandese oggi 42enne, che debuttò giovanissima (primi anni 2000) nella band hard rock Two Lane Blacktop, poi trasferitasi in Australia per formare la rock band Teenager, dopo di che (2007) Londra, dove rimase fino al 2013, per iniziare la sua carriera solista come Ladyhawke. Si trasferisce a Los Angeles, pubblica il terzo album Wild Things, e torna a vivere nella nativa Nuova Zelanda (dove si sposa con la musicista e attrice Madeleine Sami, con la quale ha una figlia). Le sue influenze sono hard rock, anche femminile, e grunge, ma il suo stile attuale si può incasellare come synth-pop, anche se in singoli come Guilty Love (sicuramente il pezzo migliore del disco), dove appaiono anche i conterranei Broods, il suo passato esce allo scoperto. Bella voce (contralto), disco piacevole ma con pochi graffi.
Time Flies is the fourth album of the solo incarnation of Phillipa Margaret Brown known as Pip, a 42-year-old New Zealand multi-instrumentalist who made her debut at a very young age (early 2000s) in the hard rock band Two Lane Blacktop, then moved to Australia to form the rock band Teenager, after which (2007) she moved to London, where she remained until 2013, to begin her solo career as Ladyhawke. She moves then to Los Angeles, releases her third album Wild Things, and returns to live in her native New Zealand (where she marries musician and actress Madeleine Sami, with whom she has a daughter). Her influences are hard rock, even feminine, and grunge, but her current style can be pigeonholed as synth-pop, even if in singles like Guilty Love (certainly the best track on the record), where fellow countrymen Broods also appear, her past comes out. Nice voice (contralto range), nice record but with only few scratches.
