Medicine at Midnight - Foo Fighters (2021)
Siamo al decimo disco per i Foo Fighters, una band che, sono sicuro di averlo ripetuto fino allo sfinimento, per le generazioni che hanno amato il movimento grunge rappresenta una sorta di ponte verso la contemporaneità, e che è la dimostrazione lampante che, di tutto quel movimento, Dave Grohl è l'elemento che ha saputo meglio di tutti far fruttare quell'esperienza. Proprio per questo, ogni volta che scrivo su di loro, rischio di debordare: quindi, mi fermo qui. Andiamo al sodo: com'è Medicine At Midnight? Onestamente, un disco di buon arena rock statunitense, senza infamia e senza lode, che venderà come sempre, ma che di certo non entusiasma chi cerca la scintilla che accende la passione, chi ha bisogno ancora di entusiasmarsi per la musica, di bruciare e di innamorarsi ancora. Come dite? Certo che voglio ancora bene a Dave, anche questo sono sicuro di averlo già detto e scritto molte volte: non si può volergli male.
We are on the tenth record for the Foo Fighters, a band that, I am sure I have repeated it to the point of exhaustion, for the generations who have loved the grunge movement represents a sort of bridge towards contemporaneity, and which is the clear demonstration that, of everybody that "made" that movement, Dave Grohl is the element that has best known how to make that experience fruitful. Precisely for this reason, every time I write about them, I risk overflowing: so, I'll stop here. Let's get to the point: what's Medicine At Midnight like? Honestly, a record of good American arena rock, without infamy and without praise, which will sell as always, but which certainly does not thrill those looking for the spark that ignites passion, those who still need to get excited about music, to burn and to fall in love again. What are you saying? Of course I still love Dave, this too I'm sure I've said and written many times before: you cannot not love him.
