Not Your Muse - Celeste (2021)
Dopo un paio di EP (2017 e 2019), molti singoli e un bel po' di "gavetta", esce il primo album di Celeste, all'anagrafe Celeste Epiphany Waite, splendida voce soul britannica (lei è nata negli USA, da padre di origini giamaicane e madre inglese, ma si è trasferita in UK all'età di 3 anni dopo la separazione dei genitori) con buone capacità di composizione e grande pathos vocale che ricorda a molti quello della Winehouse. Il disco, la cui uscita è stata più volte rinviata, contiene 12 tracce nell'edizione standard, ed altre nove in quella deluxe, inclusa una cover di Curtis Mayfield (It's All Right). Pregi e difetti di molte voci nuove di questo genere: bellissima, ma le composizioni si rivelano piuttosto standardizzate, con pochi picchi indimenticabili. Il tempo ci dirà se la ragazza ha qualcosa in più della media imperante.
After a couple of EPs (2017 and 2019), many singles and a lot of work her way to the ladder, Celeste's first album is released, born Celeste Epiphany Waite, splendid British soul voice (she was born in the USA, from a father of Jamaican origins and an English mother, but moved to the UK at the age of 3 after the separation of her parents) with good composition skills and great vocal pathos that for many, reminds the one of Amy Winehouse. The album, whose release has been postponed several times, contains 12 tracks in the standard edition, and another nine in the deluxe one, including a cover by Curtis Mayfield (It's All Right). Pros and cons of many new voices of this genre: beautiful, but the compositions turn out to be rather standardized, with few unforgettable peaks. Time will tell if the girl has something more than the prevailing average.
