40:42 - Vampire Weekend (2021)
I genietti di NYC si aggiungono, con questo (come si confà al loro stile) stranissimo EP, alla lista degli artisti che , in un certo qual modo, hanno "celebrato" il passaggio tra l'anno 2020, difficilissimo per l'umanità tutta, e dare il benvenuto al 2021, anno pieno di speranze per tutti. Del resto, avendo scritto una canzone che si intitola appunto 2021 (nel 2019, da Father of the Bride), non potevano esimersi. L'EP in questione non è altro che una doppia re-interpretazione di quella traccia, la prima, sottotitolata in the space between two pieces of wood, da parte del sassofonista jazz Sam Gendel, la seconda, January 5th, to be exact, a cura della band Goose (quella statunitense del Connecticut, non quella belga). La band ha dato carta bianca ai due soggetti, imponendo però la durata: le due rivisitazioni dovevano durare esattamente 20 minuti e 21 secondi (e ovviamente il titolo è un "doppio" di 20:21). Divertente, come del resto tutto quello che arriva dai Vampire Weekend.
The little geniuses of NYC are added, with this (as befits their style) very strange EP, to the list of artists who, in a certain way, have "celebrated" the transition between the year 2020, very difficult for humanity as a whole, and welcome 2021, a year full of hope for all. After all, having written a song called 2021 (in 2019, from Father of the Bride), they could not exempt themselves. The EP in question is nothing more than a double re-interpretation of that track, the first, subtitled in the space between two pieces of wood, by the jazz saxophonist Sam Gendel, the second, January 5th, to be exact, by the band Goose (the American one from Connecticut, not the Belgian one). The band gave carte blanche to the two subjects, imposing however the duration: the two reinterpretations had to last exactly 20 minutes and 21 seconds (and obviously the title is a "double" of 20:21). Funny, like everything else that comes from Vampire Weekend.
