Diamond Star Halos - Def Leppard (2022)
Il dodicesimo album in studio della storica band di Sheffield, UK, non è male, all'interno del genere, che qualcuno continua a definire glam rock. I Def Leppard sono sempre stati bravi a scrivere canzoni hard rock, sia romantiche ballate che potenziali hit mid tempo dove sembravano degli AC/DC leggermente addolciti; mediamente, Diamond Star Halos è un buon album, rispetto alla produzione degli ultimi 20 anni, e dimostra che sono ancora bravi a scrivere canzoni. Le due collaborazioni con Alison Krauss (This Guitar e Lifeless) lasciano intendere che stanno perfino provando ad ibridare il loro suono con qualcosa di diverso. Certo, i tempi d'oro sono lontanissimi, e quando, per un momento, metti a fuoco cosa stai ascoltando, ti rendi conto che è un disco fuori dal tempo, e neppure indimenticabile.
The twelfth studio album by the historic band from Sheffield, UK, is not bad, within the genre, which some continue to call glam rock. Def Leppard have always been good at writing hard rock songs, both romantic ballads and potential mid tempo hits where they sounded like mildly mellowed AC/DC; on average, Diamond Star Halos is a good album, compared to the production of the last 20 years, and it shows that they are still good at writing songs. The two collaborations with Alison Krauss (This Guitar and Lifeless) suggest that they are even trying to hybridize their sound with something different. Of course, the golden times are far away, and when, for a moment, you focus on what you are listening to, you realize that it is a record out of time, and not even unforgettable.
