Come detto già in passato, Miranda Lambert negli US è una potenza: un mese fa ha annunciato una "residency" di 24 concerti a Las Vegas, Nevada, a partire da settembre 2022, una cosa che nel continente nord americano è un po' come un punto di arrivo, il coronamento di una carriera di estremo successo. Misconosciuta da noi, a me non dispiace, ma nonostante il fatto che anche questo album sia stato ben accolto dalla critica specializzata, non mi è parso ai livelli, ad esempio, di The Weight of These Wings del 2016. Non metto in dubbio che le sue liriche siano bozzetti country americani molto apprezzati, anche perché lontani dagli stereotipi, e che sia estremamente capace di omaggiare le sue ispirazioni (Geraldene è un peana a Jolene e a Dolly Parton, c'è Wandering Spirit di Mick Jagger, e Music City Queen è in featuring con The B52's), ma nel suo complesso il disco non mi ha preso più di tanto.

I do not doubt that the her lyrics are very popular American country sketches, also because they are far from stereotypes, and that she is extremely capable of paying homage to her inspirations (Geraldene is a paean to Jolene and Dolly Parton, there is Wandering Spirit by Mick Jagger, and Music City Queen is featuring with The B52's), but as a whole the record didn't take me that much.
