Sixty Summers - Julia Stone (2021)
Al terzo album da solista, l'australiana che è anche metà del duo Angus & Julia Stone mostra di voler intraprendere un percorso di quelli che ci piacciono, pop quanto basta ma interessato a sperimentazioni di ogni tipo, tanto è vero che il disco si apre con sonorità caraibiche, e si avvale della produzione congiunta di Thomas Bartlett (Doveman) e St. Vincent (da qui probabilmente il tocco Byrneiano). Tralasciando l'ospite su We All Have (Matt Berninger dei The National, ormai ovunque), il disco prosegue deliziosamente, mostrando la versatilità della voce davvero inebriante di Julia, un disco leggero ma non banale, che lascia ancora margini di miglioramento e, come accennato in apertura, si fa apprezzare per la voglia di uscire dagli schemi.
On the third solo album, the Australian who is also half of the duo Angus & Julia Stone shows that she wants to embark on a path of the ones we like, pop enough but interested in experimentation of all kinds, so much so that the disc opens with Caribbean sounds, and makes use of the joint production of Thomas Bartlett (Doveman) and St. Vincent (hence probably the Byrneian touch). Leaving aside the guest on We All Have (Matt Berninger of The National, now everywhere), the record continues delightfully, showing the versatility of Julia's truly intoxicating voice, a light but not trivial record, which still leaves room for improvement and, as mentioned at the beginning, it is appreciated for the desire to break the mold.
