E' il decimo album in studio, questo Antidepressants, quindi con questo la storica band londinese eguaglia il numero di album fatti uscire prima della separazione (si sono riuniti nel 2010). Si parla di una trilogia, definita dalla band "del bianco e nero", e questo dovrebbe essere il secondo tassello, dopo il precedente Autofiction del 2022. Testi che parlano di paranoia, morte, e di "disconnessione nell'era moderna", seppure diversi episodi abbraccino una prospettiva più ottimistica, mentre a livello musicale, le composizioni sono sempre tutte di alto livello, anche se, a mio modesto parere, leggermente troppo omogenee: del resto, sono una band che ha un marchio di fabbrica ben definito.
This Antidepressants is their tenth studio album, so with this one the historic London band has equaled the number of albums they released before their split (they reunited in 2010). It's been described as a trilogy, defined by the band as "black and white", and this should be the second installment, following the previous 2022 album, Autofiction. The lyrics speak of paranoia, death, and "disconnection in the modern age," although several episodes embrace a more optimistic perspective. Musically, the songwriting is consistently top-notch, even if, in my humble opinion, a little too homogeneous: after all, they are a band with a well-defined trademark.
