Dream Weapon - Genghis Tron (2021)
Il terzo album della band di Poughkeepsie, New York (poi spostatasi prima a Brooklyn, poi a San Francisco), il primo dopo la riunione (dopo uno iato di 10 anni), è un oggetto strano, ma come c'era da aspettarsi. Un album che parte dal metal, ma lo si intuisce appena, e fonde soprattutto progressive, ambient ed elettronica, con ritmi sostenuti, martellanti e quasi tribali, virati in salsa elettronica, appunto. Ne esce fuori un qualcosa vicino alla psichedelia, ma, ovviamente, una psichedelia futurista. Le chitarre non ci sono (o non se ne fanno accorgere), i synth la fanno da padroni, ma tutto sommato, l'album è comunque molto intrigante.
The third album by the band from Poughkeepsie, New York (then moved first to Brooklyn, then to San Francisco), the first since the reunion (after a 10-year hiatus), is a strange object, but as expected. An album that starts from metal, but you can hardly guess it, and above all blends progressive, ambient and electronic, with sustained, pounding and almost tribal rhythms, veered in electronic sauce, in fact. Something close to psychedelia comes out of it, but obviously a futurist psychedelia. The guitars are not there (or they don't give us any notice), the synths are the masters, but all in all, the album is still very intriguing.
