No pain. The world is a wonderful whisper for those who can listen, if necessary in silence.

Una storia di comportamento nomade

A History of Nomadic Behavior - Eyehategod (2021)

Sixth album for the seminal band from New Orleans, Louisiana, in 33 years of activity, and seven years after the previous one that signed their reunion, the thing that certainly impresses most at first listen is the proof of Mike on vocals: they have passed seven years, but is still recovering from a liver transplant. For the rest, Eyehategod remain masters both in sludge and in hardcore post: for those like me, old listeners of these once marginal genres, it is a joy to listen to this band that reminds you now of Saint Vitus, now D.R.I. The lyrics are always sharp, pissed off, with that raw but effective poetic, present-day: I want to interpret the title exactly like Chloé Zhao's film Nomadland, my Oscar favorite, which somehow digs into the American spirit. Musically they don't invent anything new, but it's a pleasure to hear them fit, and always pissed off properly.
