The Bitter Truth - Evanescence (2021)
Il quinto album della band di Little Rock, Arkansas, è probabilmente il loro primo album che ascolto per intero e con un minimo di attenzione, e devo confessare che mi ha fatto nascere un paio di riflessioni. La prima è quella che, in un "mondo" piuttosto scarso di quote rosa, fa piacere vedere una band capitanata da una donna, che si permette pure di prescindere da membri storici della band; probabilmente, Amy Lee ha pure un brutto carattere, ma se fosse stato un uomo in molti lo avrebbero additato come despota, magari ammirandolo. La seconda è più di carattere musicale: credo che all'interno di una nicchia che potremmo definire goth hard rock, gli Evanescence siano tra i migliori, detto da uno che non ama troppo questo genere. Sanno ancora scrivere canzoni ruffiane quanto basta, ma innegabilmente gradevoli. Anche questo disco contiene moltissimi potenziali singoli.
The fifth album by the band from Little Rock, Arkansas, is probably their first album that I listen to in full and with a minimum of attention, and I must confess that it gave me a couple of reflections. The first is the one that, in a rather low "world" of pink quotas, it is nice to see a band led by a woman, who also allows herself to leave aside historical members of the band; probably, Amy Lee also has a bad temper, but if she had been a man, many would have pointed him out as a despot, perhaps admiring him. The second is more of a musical nature: I believe that within a niche that we could define goth hard rock, Evanescence are among the best, said by someone who does not love this genre too much. They still know how to write enough pimp songs, but undeniably enjoyable. This record also contains a lot of potential singles.
