Quinto album per il supergruppo formato da Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantômas) alla voce, Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard) alla chitarra, John Stanier (Helmet, Battles) alla batteria, e Trevor Dunn (John Zorn, Mr. Bungle) al basso, a distanza di otto anni dal precedente Oddfellows. Non ci sono novità rilevanti, e con questo naturalmente non voglio darvi ad intendere che siamo davanti ad un disco brutto, al contrario. Come spesso capita davanti ai progetti che includono Patton, siamo ancora davanti ad un calderone fumante di influenze differenti, e, detto di heavy metal, hardcore punk, progressive, alternative e post, alla fine l'etichetta che mi pare più calzante possa essere quella che si dettero nel 2002, ossia cinematic rock, visto che più che simile ad una colonna sonora, questo disco (come gli altri) potrebbe essere un film sonoro, con trame, colpi di scena, fast forward e flashback, tutto dentro la struttura delle singole tracce, se capite quello che voglio dire.

Fifth album for the supergroup formed by Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantômas) on vocals, Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard) on guitar, John Stanier (Helmet, Battles) on drums, and Trevor Dunn (John Zorn, Mr. Bungle) on bass, eight years after the previous Oddfellows. There are no relevant news, and with this of course I do not want to give you to understand that we are facing a bad record, on the contrary. As often happens in front of projects that include Patton, we are still in front of a steaming cauldron of different influences, and, said of heavy metal, hardcore punk, progressive, alternative and post, in the end the label that seems to me most suitable may be that that were given in 2002, that is cinematic rock, since more than similar to a soundtrack, this record (like the others) could be a sound film, with plots, twists, fast forwards and flashbacks, all within the structure of the individual tracks, if you understand what I mean.
