I Can Fool Anybody in This Town - Liily (2019)
Primo EP di questa giovanissima band proveniente da Los Angeles, California. Sei tracce molto rock, aggressive e al tempo stesso molto melodiche, si sentono molte influenze diverse (dagli Stooges agli Arctic Monkeys), e una freschezza che spesso fa gridare al miracolo. Una bella voce graffiante, belle armonie con chitarre usate più per cesellare che per dettare ritmiche, qualche influenza soul (come i migliori Afghan Whigs, per dire), una sezione ritmica compatta. Purtroppo, spesso capita che band come queste non riescono ad avere continuità: vediamo se durano, e se riescono a consolidare la bontà di questo debutto.
First EP of this very young band from Los Angeles, California. Six tracks very rock, aggressive and at the same time very melodic, you can hear many different influences (from the Stooges to the Arctic Monkeys), and a freshness that often makes you cry out for a miracle. A nice scratchy voice, nice harmonies with guitars used more for chiseling than for dictating rhythms, some soul influence (like the best Afghan Whigs, to say a thing), a compact rhythm section. Unfortunately, it often happens that bands like these fail to have continuity: let's see if they last, and if they can consolidate the goodness of this debut.
