The Obliterationist - Orecus (2021)
Album di debutto per questa band svedese di Stoccolma, dopo un demo del 2012, Bury the Truth, ed un EP del 2016, Conclusion. Un percorso lento, ma c'è da aggiungere che la band è stata in pausa alcuni anni (i vari membri fanno parte di altre band in attività). Siamo dalle parti di un death metal che oserei definire piuttosto ordinato, predilezione per tempi cadenzati, chitarre molto groove metal, melodie pompose e marziali, e buona preparazione tecnica. Ci sono un paio di collaborazioni, Chad Kapper dei Frontierer su Blodvite, e Fredrik Söderberg dei Soreption su Below the Threshold, ed il disco è decisamente buono.
Debut album for this Swedish band from Stockholm, after a 2012 demo, Bury the Truth, and a 2016 EP, Conclusion. A slow path, but it must be added that the band has been on hiatus for a few years (the various members are part of other bands in activity). We are on the neighborhood of a death metal that I would dare to define rather orderly, a preference for cadenced/mid tempos, very groove metal guitars, pompous and martial melodies, and good technical preparation. There are a couple of collaborations, Frontierer's Chad Kapper on Blodvite, and Soreption's Fredrik Söderberg on Below the Threshold, and the record is pretty good.
