Il vero giornalismo imporrebbe di evitare considerazioni personali; siccome qua non siamo dalle parti del vero giornalismo, la considerazione, estremamente personale, che mi è venuto da fare mentre ascoltavo il nuovo del Cult of Luna, il loro ottavo album in studio, dopo aver riascoltato una specie di canzone che è uscita fuori dalla prima session con la mia vecchia band dopo quasi 30 anni, è che le cose si assomigliano, naturalmente molto vagamente, e che quindi è questo il post metal. So benissimo che è un ragionamento quasi infantile, ma lasciatemi sognare. Nove tracce per un'ora e nove minuti, questo nuovo lavoro è decisamente la nuova frontiera del metal, e davvero, chi li segue non aveva dubbi. Come detto in altre occasioni, la band svedese è sicuramente una delle realtà più interessanti di questo genere, ma pure del rock in generale; la loro musica è avvolgente, potente, evocativa, trascinante, e potrei sbizzarrirmi aggiungendo aggettivi eccitanti, ma mi fermo qui dicendovi che se per caso, ancora non lo avete fatto, dovete affrettarvi ad ascoltare questo disco, e magari il resto della loro discografia, perché potreste pentirvene amaramente, un giorno.

True journalism would dictate avoiding personal considerations; since we are not here for real journalism, the extremely personal consideration that came to me while listening to the new Cult of Luna, their eighth studio album, after having listened to a kind of song that came out of the first session with my old band in almost 30 years, is that things look alike, of course very vaguely, and therefore this is post metal. I know very well that this is almost childish reasoning, but let me dream. Nine tracks for an hour and nine minutes, this new work is definitely the new frontier of metal, and really, those who follow them had no doubts. As said on other occasions, the Swedish band is certainly one of the most interesting realities of this genre, but also of rock in general; their music is captivating, powerful, evocative, enthralling, and I could indulge myself by adding exciting adjectives, but I stop here by telling you that if by chance, you haven't done it yet, you must hurry up to listen to this record, and maybe the rest of their discography, because you may bitterly regret it someday.
