An Hour Before It's Dark - Marillion (2022)
Per chi non lo sapesse, gli inglesi (di Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire) Marillion sono ancora vivi, il cantante Fish ha abbandonato la band molti anni fa (1988; da notare che non era il cantante originale), sostituito da Steve Hogarth (che ha una voce a mio giudizio molto meno carismatica, ma certamente meno simile a quella di Peter Gabriel), e non hanno mai smesso di pubblicare album, rimanendo tutto sommato fedeli al loro genere musicale, tanto è vero che questo An Hour Before It's Dark rappresenta il loro ventesimo album in studio. Mi ci sono avvicinato per curiosità, come avrete capito dall'introduzione non li ascoltavo probabilmente dai tempi di Clutching at Straws (1987), e quello che posso dirvi su questo disco è quello che probabilmente riuscite ad immaginarvi da soli: ben suonato, piacevole rock vagamente progressivo, arioso, morbido e smussato, tracce spesso composte da più movimenti, il tutto un po' stucchevole.
For the uninitiated, the British from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Marillion are still alive, singer Fish left the band many years ago (1988; note he was not the original singer), replaced by Steve Hogarth (who has a voice in my opinion much less charismatic, but certainly less similar to that of Peter Gabriel), and have never stopped releasing albums, remaining all in all faithful to their musical genre, so much so that this An Hour Before It's Dark represents their twentieth studio album. I approached this album out of curiosity, as you will have understood from the introduction I had probably not listened to them since Clutching at Straws (1987), and what I can tell you about this record is what you can probably imagine for yourself: well played, pleasant rock vaguely progressive, airy, soft and blunt, tracks often composed of several movements, all a bit cloying.
