Monument - Molchat Doma (2020)
Devo ammettere che l'iconografia di questa band bielorussa di Minsk mi ha incuriosito subito, e di loro sono venuto a conoscenza "frequentando" il profilo Instagram della Sacred Bones, per la quale hanno firmato nel 2020 poco prima di far uscire il disco del quale parliamo oggi, il loro terzo (l'etichetta ha poi fatto nuovamente uscire i loro primi due album). Il disco in questione è assolutamente godibile, di sicuro per anziani come me, che riconoscono nel loro suono un sacco di influenze anni '80: Depeche Mode, Joy Division, perfino Kraftwerk, ma anche un certo tipo di disco music di quell'epoca. Certo, cantano in russo (se ho capito bene), e l'effetto è certamente particolare.
I must admit that the iconography of this Belarusian band from Minsk immediately intrigued me, and I learned about them by "attending" the Instagram profile of Sacred Bones, for which they signed in 2020 shortly before releasing the album of which let's talk today, their third (the label then re-released their first two albums). The record in question is absolutely enjoyable, certainly for old people like me, who recognize a lot of 80s influences in their sound: Depeche Mode, Joy Division, even Kraftwerk, but also a certain type of disco music of that era. Of course, they sing in Russian (if I understand correctly), and the effect is certainly particular.
