Sedicesimo disco della band di Meriden, West Midlands, UK. A 33 anni dal loro debutto Scum, a 39 dalla loro fondazione (1981), a 5 dall'uscita del precedente Apex Predator - Easy Meat (2015). Un titolo, come sempre, che è tutto un programma (sentite questa: ispirato dalla posizione politica della band, il professor Simon Springer ha scritto la conclusione del suo libro del 2016, The Discourse of Neoliberalism: An Anatomy of a Powerful Idea, incorporando nel testo canzoni e titoli di album di Napalm Death), e un approccio che ci ricorda si, da dove provengono, ma soprattutto a chi si ispira una moltitudine di band attuali. Ascoltate Backlash Just Because e ditemi se il ritornello non potrebbe essere scambiato per un pezzo qualsiasi dei Converge. Quasi 40 anni, come dicevamo in apertura, e ancora loro suonano come una delle band più estreme, senza compromessi, cantando di socialismo, anarchismo, umanesimo e diritti (animali compresi). Una band incredibile, per un disco, ancora una volta, incredibile.

A title, as always, that is all a program (get this: inspired by the band's political stance, Professor Simon Springer wrote the conclusion of his 2016 book, The Discourse of Neoliberalism: An Anatomy of a Powerful Idea, incorporating into the text, songs lyrics and album titles by Napalm Death), and an approach that reminds us of where they come from, but above all which band inspired a multitude of current bands. Listen to Backlash Just Because and tell me if the chorus could not be mistaken for a track by Converge. Almost 40 years, as we said at the beginning, and still they play as one of the most extreme bands, without compromise, singing about socialism, anarchism, humanism and rights (including animals). An incredible band, for an incredible album, once again.
