Endarkenment - Anaal Nathrakh (2020)

Disco massiccio, questo undicesimo della band (in realtà, un duo, formato dal cantante Dave Hunt e dal multistrumentista Mick Kenney, poi dal vivo si aggiungono bassista, batterista e secondo chitarrista) di Birmingham, UK, che suona un blackened death metal che incorpora elementi di grindcore e di industrial metal, ma soprattutto di symphonic black metal, elemento che, alle mie orecchie, risulta sempre molto rischioso: basta un attimo, e risulti stucchevole. A mio parere, è proprio il caso degli Anaal Nathrakh (respiro del serpente in gaelico, dal film Excalibur), che mi soddisfano finché non "aprono" melodicamente, ma in maniera, appunto, troppo sinfonica.

Massive record, this eleventh of the band (actually, a duo, formed by singer Dave Hunt and multi-instrumentalist Mick Kenney, then live they add a bassist, drummer and second guitarist) from Birmingham, UK, playing blackened death metal that incorporates elements of grindcore and industrial metal, but above all of symphonic black metal, an element that, to my ears, is always very risky: just a moment, and it is cloying. In my opinion, it is precisely the case of Anaal Nathrakh (snake's breath in Gaelic, from the film Excalibur), which satisfy me as long as they do not "open" melodically, but in a way that is too symphonic.
