Despicable - Carcass (2020)

A sette anni da Surgical Steel, l'ottimo disco del ritorno dei Carcass, questo EP di quattro pezzi anticipa il nuovo disco, che dovrebbe uscire nel 2021, e che si intitolerà Torn Arteries. Mentre ho cominciato l'ennesimo ascolto, che però definirei "definitivo" perché è quello che sto facendo mentre scrivo queste righe, mi sono dilettato a leggere qualche recensione in rete, ed è sorprendente il fatto che gli unici siti che ne parlano male siano quelli italiani. Detto questo, sempre con il massimo rispetto per l'opinione di tutti, vi dirò semplicemente che non sono d'accordo con chi ne parla male, perché trovo queste quattro tracce piuttosto interessanti. Tecnici come sempre, accattivanti con un buon bilanciamento tra la melodia e l'aggressività, senza mai mentire sulle loro influenze e sulla loro età, ma riuscendo a dare vita ad un prodotto al passo con i tempi. Death metal progressive, grandissimo lavoro delle chitarre come sempre, e se è vero che queste sono le tracce scartate dal prossimo disco, sarà ancor più interessante ascoltare quello.

Seven years after Surgical Steel, the excellent Carcass return album, this four-track EP anticipates the new album, due out in 2021, and which will be titled Torn Arteries. While I started yet another listening, which I would call "definitive" because that's what I'm doing as I write these lines, I enjoyed reading some reviews on the internet, and it's surprising that the only sites that speak badly of it are those Italians. Having said that, always with the utmost respect for everyone's opinion, I will simply tell you that I disagree with those who speak badly about it, because I find these four tracks quite interesting. Technical as always, captivating with a good balance between melody and aggression, without ever lying about their influences and their age, but managing to give life to a product in step with the times. Progressive death metal, great guitar work as always, and if it is true that these are the tracks discarded from the next album, it will be even more interesting to listen to that one.
