Under Pressure - Death Angel (2020)

Breve EP contenente quattro tracce anche per i californiani Death Angel, band della quale vi ho parlato in qualche occasione, la cui formazione risale al 1982 (rimasti inattivi poi dal 1991 al 2001), ad un anno di distanza dal loro ultimo album Humanicide. Molto curioso, ma non troppo per chi segue la band da sempre, come me. Il disco è interamente acustico, e si apre con una cover di Under Pressure dei Queen, praticamente identica. Si prosegue con un inedito, Faded Remains, ballata senza infamia e senza lode; la terza traccia è una re-registrazione della loro canzone forse più bella di sempre, A Room With a View, dal loro album Act III del 1990. Poche differenze, ma le emozioni che ti dà questa meraviglia sono sempre fortissime, anche a distanza di 30 anni. L'ascolto varrebbe la pena solo per questo, sono convinto che molti non conoscono questa band. Chiude la versione acustica, naturalmente, di Revelation Song, originariamente sul precedente Humanicide, già citato prima. Se vi fidate, vi garantisco che il disco vale l'ascolto solo per quella canzone, addirittura anche se la conoscete già.

Short EP containing four tracks also for the Californian Death Angel, a band of which I have spoken to you on a few occasions, whose formation dates back to 1982 (then remained inactive from 1991 to 2001), one year after their last album Humanicide. Very curious, but not too much for those who have always followed the band, like me. The album is entirely acoustic, and opens with a cover of Queen's Under Pressure, virtually identical. It continues with an unreleased, Faded Remains, ballad without infamy and without praise; the third track is a re-recording of their perhaps most beautiful song ever, A Room With a View, from their 1990 album Act III. Few differences, but the emotions that this wonder gives you are always very strong, even at a distance of 30 years. Listening would be worthwhile for that alone, I am convinced that many do not know this band. Closes the acoustic version, of course, of Revelation Song, originally on the previous Humanicide, already mentioned above. If you trust me, I guarantee you that the record is worth listening to just for that song, even if you already know it.
