Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace - Nick Cave (2020)

Già subito dopo (anzi, durante) il primo ascolto di questo disco (corredato da un film concerto, uscito nei cinema aperti, e diffuso in streaming il 23 luglio 2020), il pensiero immediato è stato "che cazzo gli puoi dire a uno così?", da intendersi come "non ci sono più parole sufficienti per parlarne". Nick Cave ed il suo piano. Ventidue tracce (quasi 84 minuti), quattro in più nella versione film, tratte dall'ormai immenso repertorio dei Bad Seeds e addirittura dei Grinderman, e un inedito, la splendida Euthanasia. Molti dei pezzi riarrangiati, alcuni a tratti irriconoscibili, ventidue poesie, ventidue momenti per piangere, per riflettere su quello che la vita ci ha riservato e che ha ancora in serbo, per ricordare cuori spezzati e momenti intensi. Ancora una volta, un capolavoro.

Immediately after (indeed, during) the first listening to this album (accompanied by a concert film, released in the few cinemas still opened, and broadcast in streaming on July 23, 2020), the immediate thought was "what the fuck can you tell someone like that?", to be understood as "there are no longer enough words to talk about it". Nick Cave and his piano. Twenty-two tracks (almost 84 minutes), four more in the film version, taken from the now immense repertoire of the Bad Seeds and even the Grinderman, and an unreleased track, the splendid Euthanasia. Many of the rearranged tracks, some at times unrecognizable, twenty-two poems, twenty-two moments to cry, to reflect on what life has reserved for us and still has in store, to remember broken hearts and intense moments. Once again, a masterpiece.
