Never Let Me Go - Placebo (2022)
L'ottavo album della band, ormai un duo (Brian Molko e Stefan Olsdal), formatasi a Londra ormai 28 anni fa, arriva a ben otto anni di distanza dal precedente Loud Like Love. Lo stile dei Placebo non sembra molto cambiato, forse solo un poco più "riflessivo", passatemi il termine, rispetto al passato. L'elettronica, usata con estrema parsimonia, ha sempre fatto parte del loro suono così come le tastiere, hanno la capacità di scrivere buone canzoni (alcune ottime, qua ce ne sono alcune), hanno un loro marchio di fabbrica, sono riconoscibili immediatamente. In Never Let Me Go prediligono l'approccio mid tempo tendente alla ballata, il sentimento di fondo è nostalgico, insomma, niente di nuovo ma ben fatto.
The band's eighth album, now a duo (Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal), formed in London 28 years ago, comes eight years after the previous Loud Like Love. The style of Placebo does not seem to have changed much, perhaps just a little more "thoughtful", pass me the term, compared to the past. Electronics, used with extreme parsimony, have always been part of their sound as well as keyboards, have the ability to write good songs (some excellent, here there are some), have their own trademark, are immediately recognizable. In Never Let Me Go they prefer the mid tempo approach tending to the ballad, the underlying feeling is nostalgic, in short, nothing new but well done.
