Ve ne parlai in occasione del suo secondo album Party, del 2017, ne riparliamo adesso con il suo quarto album Warm Chris, e scusatemi se non mi sono accorto che, nel 2019, la cantautrice neozelandese, dal 2020 di base a Cardiff, Galles, Hannah Sian Topp, aka Aldous Harding, abbia fatto uscire il suo terzo lavoro intitolato Designer. Ora, devo avvisarvi di un paio di cose. La prima è che non è (come suo solito) un disco di facile ascolto, uno di quelli che ti colpisce subito (eppure alcune parti ti colpiscono immediatamente, ma non come può farlo un brano di Dua Lipa, sia chiaro); la seconda è che il lavoro in questione conferma totalmente, e approfondisce, quello che dissi in occasione di Party. Di recente lei stessa si è autodefinita "la Jim Carrey del mondo indie", a proposito dell'obliquità delle sue composizioni, e del suo trasformismo vocale. Insomma, ancora una volta, un gioiellino folk indie dalle profonde sfumature teatrali e surreali, senza dubbio qualcosa che non somiglia a niente di quello che conoscete, ma fatto in maniera sublime.

I talked you about it on the occasion of her second album Party, in 2017, let's talk about it now with her fourth album Warm Chris, and sorry if I didn't notice that, in 2019, the New Zealand singer-songwriter, based in Cardiff, Wales, since 2020, Hannah Sian Topp, aka Aldous Harding, has released her third work titled Designer. Now, I have to warn you of a couple of things. The first is that it is not (as usual) an easy-to-listen record, one that strikes you immediately (yet some parts does strike you immediately, but not like a Dua Lipa song can do it, mind you); the second is that the work in question totally confirms, and deepens, what I said on the occasion of Party. She has recently called herself "the Jim Carrey of the indie world", about the obliquity of her compositions, and her vocal transformism. In short, once again, an indie folk gem with deep theatrical and surreal nuances, undoubtedly something that does not resemble anything you know, but made in a sublime way.
