Potremmo definirlo come il disco della maturità, tanto per cominciare con un luogo comune qualsiasi, il terzo lavoro degli irlandesi di Dublino Fontaines D.C., intitolato come un vecchio detto (irlandese), che si apre con un titolo (ugualmente) in irlandese, e che nelle liriche, parla soprattutto di Irlanda. Detto poi che confermo tutto quello già detto in occasione del loro primo e del loro secondo disco, e che non condivido l'entusiasmo smisurato di alcune riviste specializzate (bel disco si, unica band valida o addirittura la migliore in giro no), vorrei ancora una volta far notare che il parallelismo con gli Idles regge ancora: anche loro de-punkizzano il suono complessivo, per dirigersi verso cose già sentite, ma, escludendo echi Clash, soprattutto tinte di dark wave rendono variegata ed interessante la loro composizione. Che il loro fascino stia anche, ma non solo, nel cantato intrigante di Grian Chatten e nelle sfumature di chiaroscuro ce ne esce fuori, insieme a tutti i riferimenti succitati, è innegabile. Bravi.

We could define it as the record of maturity, to begin with a random cliché, the third work of the Irish from Dublin Fontaines D.C., titled as an old (Irish) saying, which opens with a title (equally) in Irish, and that in the lyrics, it speaks mostly of Ireland. Having said that I confirm everything already said on the occasion of their first and second album, and that I do not share the boundless enthusiasm of some specialized magazines (good record yes, only valid band or even the best around no), I would still like once to point out that the parallelism with Idles still holds: they too de-punk the overall sound, to head towards things already heard, but, excluding Clash echoes, especially shades of dark wave make their composition varied and interesting. That their charm lies also, but not only, in Grian Chatten's intriguing singing and in the shades of chiaroscuro it comes out, together with all the references mentioned above, is undeniable. Well done.
