Obsidian - Northlane (2022)

Curioso caso di omonimia (il sesto disco degli australiani si intitola esattamente come il sedicesimo dei Paradise Lost, del 2020), consiglio di cominciare l'ascolto del nuovo lavoro dei Northlane con la traccia numero 11, Inamorata. Se non vi "disturba" questa canzone dalle melodie meravigliose, che potrebbe (ovviamente in un mondo perfetto) diventare il tormentone dell'estate 2022, potete tranquillamente proseguire l'ascolto delle altre 12 tracce, che dimostrano il continuo impegno a fare qualcosa che li diversifichi dagli altri. La ricerca della melodia, dell'orecchiabilità senza cedere sulla rocciosità del suono, è il filo conduttore del disco, e, fatte le dovute differenze, il particolare che li accomuna sia ai loro "ispiratori" (ricordatevi la storia del loro nome) Architects, e ai loro amici Bring Me the Horizon (che stanno spingendo molto di più sul versante pop, si veda il loro ultimo singolo featuring Sigrid). A me piace, quindi bravi!

If you are not "disturbed" by this song with wonderful melodies, which could (obviously in a perfect world) become the catchsong of summer 2022, you can safely continue listening to the other 12 tracks, which demonstrate the continuous commitment to do something that differentiate themselves from others. The search for melody, for catching without giving in on the hardness of the sound, is the common thread of the record, and, with due differences, the particular that unites them to their "inspirers" (remember the story of their name) Architects, and to their friends Bring Me the Horizon (who are pushing a lot more on the pop side, hear their latest single featuring Sigrid). I like it, so good!
